JPG to PNG Converter

Choose a JPEG to download a PNG wrapper. Compression artifacts remain—this is a container change, not a quality upgrade.

Drop a JPG file here, or choose one. It is not uploaded.

Wrap JPEG pixels in a PNG container

The JPEG is decoded and saved as PNG. That does not restore detail the JPEG already threw away—it only changes the format. The PNG may be larger than the JPEG because PNG is lossless relative to the decoded bitmap, not relative to the original camera file.

When you actually need PNG

Some print shops and editors want PNG. Screenshots that started as JPEG will not become crisp. If you still have the camera RAW or original PNG, convert from that instead.

Color and metadata

Color profile handling depends on the browser’s decoder. EXIF may be dropped. Conversion is local; nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Will JPG to PNG un-blur a photo?

No. Compression artifacts stay. PNG just stores them losslessly from this point on.

Why is the PNG bigger?

Lossless PNG of a noisy photo is often larger than a quantized JPEG. That is expected.

Can I keep transparency?

JPEGs have no alpha. The PNG will be opaque unless you edit it elsewhere.
