Approximate IPA, not a spoken dictionary
English letters are mapped to a rough IPA-like transcription for study notes. It does not look up each word in a pronunciation lexicon, so “read” (present vs past) and names will often be wrong. Use it as a sketch, then confirm with a dictionary.
Study notes versus radio spelling
IPA-style output is for learners who already know the symbols. NATO phonetic is for reading letters aloud on a call. Do not mix the two in the same briefing sheet.
Accents and loanwords
The mapping assumes a generic English orthography. Loanwords, silent letters, and dialect vowels are not resolved. Conversion is local and free.
