Fixing a Caps Lock paragraph

Inverse case swaps every uppercase letter to lowercase and every lowercase letter to uppercase. “hELLO wORLD” becomes “Hello World” if the original was typed with Caps Lock while holding Shift on the first letters. Numbers and symbols are unchanged.

Caps Lock vs Shift vs mixed drafts

This is the right first pass when an entire block was typed with Caps Lock on. It will also invert intentional title case, so run it only on the mistaken region. Sentence case is a better follow-up if you still need natural capitalization after the swap.

What inverse case cannot recover

It cannot guess which letters were meant to be proper nouns. It does not restore deleted Shift keystrokes. After converting, skim names and acronyms, then copy the result. Processing stays on your device.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my title case turn into a mess?

Inverse case flips every letter. If the paste was already correctly capitalized, you will get the opposite. Select only the Caps Lock region before converting.

Does it work with accented characters?

Latin letters with case pairs are inverted. Symbols without an uppercase/lowercase pair stay the same.

Is there a guide for Caps Lock mistakes?

Yes. See the related Fix Caps Lock Text article, then use sentence case if you still need readable prose after the swap.
