Nicknames and status, not markdown chat
Discord chat already has `*bold*` and `_italic_`. Those are more accessible than Unicode faux fonts. This page is for nicknames, pronouns fields, and topic lines where markdown is stripped or ignored.
Server rules and mentionability
A gothic nick can be untypeable in @mentions and unreadable on a screen reader. Many servers ban zalgo and stacked marks because they clip the member list. Keep styles short and avoid cursed overlays in moderated communities.
Mobile vs desktop glyphs
Desktop Discord and mobile OS fonts differ. Test the nick after save. Unicode to Text restores Latin if a style becomes a problem. Conversion is local.

Should I use Unicode bold in chat?
Prefer Discord markdown in channels that parse it. Unicode bold is a different character and may not copy-search.
Can I style a whole message?
You can, but readers and moderation bots will struggle. Reserve Unicode for the nick.
Why did my nick reset?
Boosts, nitro, and server nick permissions aside, some clients reject unusual characters on save. Shorten or pick another map.
